Very little is known about the founder of Silver Cross, Mr William Wilson, but what is known is that he was a former postman with an eye for innovation.
In 1877 Mr Wilson created his very first Silver Cross Pram, the perambulator, which was known as ground breaking for its day as it had a reversible folding hood and a suspension system.
It was a truly revolutionary design and was duly patented and followed by in excess of 30 more design patents that Mr Wilson filed in his prolific lifetime.
Gaining Royal approval for his designs in the 1900s ensured that a special place was reserved for Silver Cross and their prams in the nation’s heart and ever since Silver Cross have strived to ensure that any change in designs meet the needs of the modern parent and baby.
